CDL Training For Veterans

Learn how to use your Veteran’s Benefits

Transitioning from military to civilian life can be a challenging and overwhelming task, especially when it comes to finding a suitable career. Often, the skills that took years to acquire in the military do not have much application in the civilian world. As a result, your ETS date can be a scary one. You are probably asking yourself important questions like; What happens next? How do I start making a living and providing for my family? Where do my veteran’s benefits come into play?

The good news is that Apex makes the process of using your veteran’s benefits and starting a career an easy process. Some excellent options are available in the trucking industry, and the skills you learned in uniform translate right into trucking. Transportation has always been crucial to the country’s economy, and job opportunities have never been better. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, there are expected to be over 260,000 truck driving jobs needed to be filled in the next ten years alone.[1]

CDL Training Veterans Benefits

At Apex CDL Institute, we are committed to helping veterans and their families make the most of their veterans benefits and assist them in applying for funding and financial aid programs such as the 9/11 GI Bill®. We understand the unique challenges veterans face when transitioning to civilian life and are here to provide the support and guidance they need to succeed.

We work with our students by helping them understand all the different grants and programs that are available to them and how to apply for them. Some of the past programs we have worked with and that we trust include Veteran Readiness & Employment (VR&E), KANSASWORKS, the Full Employment Council (FEC), and KC Scholars. Each program is designed to help veterans and their families with the job training and education needed for a successful post-service career.

We believe in helping veterans and their families transition to civilian life. That’s why we offer comprehensive training and assistance with applying for funding and financial aid programs like Veteran Readiness & Employment. The VR&E provides veterans with training, employment accommodations, resume development, education, and job-seeking skill coaching.

The other programs that are not veteran-specific but are still helpful for veterans and their families are the FEC, KANSASWORKS, and KC Scholars. KANSASWORKS helps you find jobs and training in specific careers throughout Kansas while providing grants to pursue that career. KC Scholars works with low to modest-income students to offer scholarships, financial incentives, and support services while they complete their job training program in high-paying, high-demand industries. The FEC helps students and anyone looking to start a new career in trucking by offering on-the-job training that allows you to get paid while learning the skills needed. Our staff will work with you to help you decide which option is best for you and your family.

Why Truck Driving?

Trucking is secure, and the job can never be sent overseas, providing a sense of job security that is hard to come by in other industries. Full-time drivers get benefits, medical and life insurance, 401k’s, pension plans, vacation, and sick time. The pay in trucking has never been better. Most of our students’ average starting pay is over $64,510 in just the first year. You can even use your 9/11 GI Bill® benefits to help increase the pay you receive. In addition to job security and financial benefits, truck driving offers unparalleled flexibility regarding home time options. Most of our students choose jobs that have them home every day.

Training is fast, and jobs are plentiful…. get to work now!
