Kansas CDL Testing
Apex CDL Institute is a Kansas certified 3rd party CDL examiners site and we maintain licensed examiners on the property at all times. We are able to provide CDL testing for most states, including Missouri right on the property.
Apex can test for the following classes of Commercial Drivers Licenses (CDL):
- Class A (Semi-Tractor Trailer)
- Class B (Dump Truck, Heavy Moving Van)
- Class C (Hazmat or Passenger, no School Bus)
All drivers wishing to test must have a valid learner’s permit for at least 15 days prior to testing. All CDL license testing must be scheduled at least 2 workdays in advance. CDL testing includes pre-trip, basic backing skills and road testing.
Differences Between Class A and Class B Licenses
The differences between a Class A License and a Class B license come down to the number of vehicles and the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating. A Class A license is for drivers who have a combination of two or more vehicles. This includes vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating of 26,001 or more, and are towing an extra weight of 10,000 lbs. While Class B licenses only involve one vehicle with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating of 26,001 lbs or more, and they’re not towing an extra 10,000 lbs.
All CDL license testing fees must be paid in advance and are non-refundable.
We can also provide truck rental to take the test if needed. It is at the sole discretion of our examiners whether or not a person is qualified to rent an Apex truck based on experience and safety concerns.
